Information Technology Department

Information Technology is offered to the entire student body from 1^st to 4^th form during the four years.

In 1^st form the first part of the year is focused on the components of the computer system while the rest of the year the course switches to Electronic Document Preparation and Management. In EDP&M the students are then introduced to the proper typing and body posture techniques and the correct use of the keyboard.

During the other three years:

• Students will be prepared for a world in which Information Technology affects every sector of society.
• Students will be able to not only handle the basic applications but also have an in depth understanding of the working of the various devises of the system.
• Students will be able to creatively setup worksheets based on a set of criteria and situations presented to them.
• Student will be provided with the foundation that will enable them the sit the Caribbean Examinations Council Secondary Education Certificate Examination.

The following areas are emphasized:

• Working with various word-processing packages
• Working with various spreadsheet packages
• Working with various database packages
• Integrating applications
• Desktop publishing including power-point presentations
• Communication tools
• Basic Programming
